Tiyamike lives in a remote village in Malawi without access to clean water. She is just 14 years old and yet she has to walk 4km every morning to collect water, often making her late for school.
And Tiyamike’s not alone. All over the world, women spend large parts of their day walking to collect clean water. For some, this means taking round trips of up to 12km a day.
In these trying times it’s easy to feel helpless. But even in your park or local area, you can make a real difference.
WaterAid is asking you to lace up your shoes and #WalkForWater so others don’t have to. Challenge yourself to walk 4km, 8km or 12km every day throughout March.
Walk the distances that millions of women and children must walk every day to get the water they need to survive. Join Walk for Water this March, walking where you can, when you can, and raise funds to help make clean water normal for everyone, everywhere.
