A new era of corporate sustainability: building resilience through action

Building resilience through action

Unilever’s sustainability targets play a critical role in futureproofing our business, ensuring focus and urgency in the areas where we can deliver the most impact, alongside more systemic interventions to drive progress in areas outside of our direct control.

Discover how we’re taking action on our four priority sustainability focus areas: Climate, Nature, Plastics and Livelihoods.

We’ve set clear sustainability priorities and remain focused on delivering our targets to enhance the value of our business through innovation, operational efficiency and long-term resilience.

Rianne Buter, Global Head of Sustainability

How is Unilever thinking about sustainability in the new era?

We’re prioritising sustainability actions where we can have the biggest impact. Our approach involves:

A Unilever packaging expert wearing protective clothing and glasses in an industrial setting, inspecting a plastic bottle in front of manufacturing or packaging machinery. The Unilever logo is visible on the person’s coat.

More focus

We have set 15 stretching near- and medium-term sustainability goals in our four priority areas.

More integrated

We’re hard wiring sustainability into our strategy, governance and operations, and leaning pragmatically into challenges to make progress, step-by-step.

Four individuals are engaged in a conversation and looking at printed maps in a field/plantation setting. The group includes people dressed in casual and outdoor work attire, one wearing a wide-brimmed hat and another in a shirt with a WWF logo.

More systemic

Our progress depends on wider system changes. We’re using our influence and working with key decision-makers across business, government and society to remove barriers to progress.
