Unilever share buyback programme 2024
With our full year 2023 results on 8 February 2024, Unilever PLC announced a programme to buy back shares with an aggregate market value equivalent of up to €1.5 billion to be conducted during 2024. The purpose of the share buyback programme was to reduce the capital of Unilever PLC within the limitations of the authorities approved by shareholders.
On 17 May 2024, Unilever announced the commencement of the first tranche of the buyback programme (the “First Tranche”) for an aggregate market value equivalent of up to €850 million to be bought back in the form of Unilever PLC ordinary shares. The First Tranche closed on 30 August 2024. 13,437,701 ordinary Unilever PLC shares with an aggregate market value equivalent of €700,101,906 were purchased under the First Tranche between 17 May 2024 and 30 August 2024. Unilever entered into non-discretionary instructions with Goldman Sachs International to conduct the First Tranche on its behalf and to make trading decisions under the First Tranche independently of Unilever.
On 13 September 2024, Unilever announced the commencement of the second tranche of the buyback programme (the “Second Tranche”) for an aggregate market value equivalent of up to €799,898,000 to be bought back in the form of Unilever PLC ordinary shares. The Second Tranche closed on 5 November 2024. 13,931,208 ordinary Unilever PLC shares with an aggregate market value equivalent of €799,897,969 were purchased under the Second Tranche between 13 September 2024 and 5 November 2024. Unilever entered into non-discretionary instructions with BNP Paribas Financial Markets to conduct the Second Tranche on its behalf and to make trading decisions under the Second Tranche independently of Unilever.
