Reducing water use

Water scarcity is a growing concern around the world, particularly in developing countries where much of our future growth is expected to come from.

To grow our business sustainably we need to reduce the total amount of water used across our value chain, especially in water-scarce regions. In November 2010 we made a commitment to halve the water associated with the consumer use of our products by 2020 as part of our Unilever Sustainable Living Plan.

Our approach covers reducing water in agriculture, manufacturing and the water associated with consumer use.
