GRI index

We compile an index that provides an overview of our reporting against the GRI G3 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines.

The Global Reporting Initiative

The Global Reporting Initiative's G3 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines provide a comprehensive set of indicators covering the economic, environmental and ethical impacts of a company's performance. These reporting principles have informed our reporting for many years.

2011

In 2011, we self-assessed ourselves as a B+ reporter according to GRI-defined application levels.

We set out all the company profile disclosures, as well as the ‘core’ performance indicators required by GRI. ‘Additional’ indicators were included where Unilever’s reporting covered them. For each of these elements we stated whether our reporting covered the requirements fully (F) or partially (P).

We also provided links or signposts to where this information could be found in our online Unilever Sustainable Living Plan: Progress Report for 2011 (SL), our Annual Report and Accounts 2011 (ARA), or elsewhere on the Unilever website (E).

Where core indicators were not deemed material to our business for the year, we marked this as NM (not material). Where we did not have information in our public reporting to answer a requirement, we marked this as NA (not available).

The seven company disclosures were:

Company Profile, Economic Performance, Environmental Performance, Labour Practices and Decent Work, Human Rights, Society Impacts and Product Responsibility.

2012

Our Unilever Sustainable Living Plan: Progress Report 2012, complemented by our online Unilever Sustainable Living Report for 2012, was published in April 2013. We are working to complete the above company disclosures for 2012 and will publish them here by mid-June.
