James A Lawrence

Jim Lawrence joined Unilever in September 2007 as Chief Financial Officer. He was elected to the Boards of Unilever NV and PLC in May 2008.

Prior to joining Unilever, Jim was at General Mills which he joined as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in October 1998. From September 2000 through May 2006, Jim was responsible for the company's international business. On June 1, 2006 he was elected Vice Chairman of General Mills, Inc.

Prior to joining General Mills, Jim held positions as Executive Vice President of Northwest Airlines and President and CEO of Pepsi-Cola Asia, Middle East, Africa. He was Co-founder and Chairman of The LEK Partnership, a corporate strategy and merger/acquisition consulting firm headquartered in London. Previously, he was a Partner of Bain and Company and headed their London and Munich offices.

Jim serves on the Board of British Airways Plc as well as the Board of Overseers of the Carlson School of Business at the University of Minnesota.

Born on 18 October 1952 in Pennsylvania, USA, Jim holds a bachelor of arts degree in economics from Yale University, and an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School. He is married with three children.
