The Global Reporting Initiative
The Global Reporting Initiative's G3 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines provide a comprehensive set of indicators covering the economic, environmental and ethical impacts of a company's performance. These reporting principles have informed our reporting for many years.
In 2012, we self-assessed ourselves as a B+ reporter according to GRI-defined application levels.
Our GRI Index sets out all the company profile disclosures, as well as the ‘core’ performance indicators required by GRI. ‘Additional’ indicators were included where Unilever’s reporting covered them. For each of these elements we state whether our reporting covers the requirements fully (F) or partially (P).
The Index also provides links or signposts to where this information can be found in our online Unilever Sustainable Living Report for 2012 (SL), our principal means of reporting; in our Annual Report and Accounts 2012 (ARA); or elsewhere on the Unilever website (E).
Where core indicators were not deemed material to our business for the year, this is marked as NM (not material). Where we did not have information in our public reporting to answer a requirement, this is marked as NA (not available).
